Public Notices

Council’s budget for the next financial year remains available for public consultation at the Shire and Library until 12 June 2019.   An Executive Summary with the budget explains the main areas of expenditure and operation for next financial year.   Please contact any Councillor or the General Manager if you have any questions about the budget.   One of the main plans for next year is to extend the Bogan Shire Medical Centre.   Four new consultation rooms will be added to accommodate extra visiting specialist services for Bogan Shire residents, funded by the sale of one of Council’s residences and loan funds,   We are very pleased to inform all of Dr Peter Hanley’s patients that he will be continuing at the Bogan Shire Medical Centre for another two years.

As the weather cools down there has been a radical increase in the number of travellers passing through town heading towards warmer areas (like the whales!).   This has triggered a lot of extra inquiry and activity at the Visitors Information Centre and the Museum, and hopefully patronage for our small businesses.   I am sure all will maintain the reputation we have as a very friendly town for visitors and make them feel very welcome.

The transfer of the SES complex to the new building in the John Hoare OAM Business Estate finally seems imminent, which will allow much more room for the Museum Building.

Service NSW will be opening their new information and RMS office in Pangee Street shortly, next to the Newsagent.   All the existing services and staff from Dalton Street depot will be relocated there with many extra services available. One parking bay outside the new shop will be sign posted to be used one day a week for driver training and licence testing.

A number of projects funded by recent State and Federal Government grants continue to take shape in town.   These will include a major expansion of the kiosk at Larkin Oval, the painting of a number of awnings in the main street, the pedestrian and cement cycleway from the river to the Mid-State Shearing Shed and improvements to the Chinese Burner and Chinese portion of the cemetery.   The solar panels are in place at the back of the Tennis Courts to help keep the pool water warmer at the opposite ends of the season, with the pool entrance very brightly painted for all to see!

Council resolved at its last meeting to call tenders for the management of the War Memorial Pool with external details of the contract to be released shortly.

A long weekend ahead for Nyngan with the CWA Markets in Davidson Park on Saturday morning.   All profits from the day are going to the National Breast Council Foundation.

Many former players are returning for a big Rugby League Reunion Dinner Saturday evening after a home game against Macquarie.
