Public Notices

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, Governor of New South Wales and her husband Mr Denis Wilson will be visiting Nyngan this Saturday 12 October 2019. After spending the night on a friend’s property, the Governor will visit the Local Aboriginal Land Council Office, and then visit the Days for Girls operations, prior to arriving at Davidson Park for morning tea at about 10.30am. Morning tea is being catered for by the local members of the CWA, who will have lunch with the Governor, who is their State Patron.

The Governors Party will then walk up to inspect the helicopter, and have a guided tour of our Museum. She will meet the Museum volunteers and Shire staff who look after the Museum and Visitors Information Centre, meet members of our three Emergency Services and spend some time with Local Rural Financial Counsellor Victoria Boag, before flying back to Sydney late afternoon.

Arrangements, venues and guest lists for these official visits are tightly controlled by Government House. The Governor expressed the wish to meet with a broad cross section of representatives from local organisations, small business representatives, farmers, schools and families to hear about what effect the current drought and water shortage is having on our community. Whilst the guest list for morning tea was restricted, those invited will hopefully allow the Governor to meet and chat to members of our local community about issues currently affecting all local families.

Residents would be aware that Council have moved to Level Three water restrictions. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation in this area. The odds and evens system remains, as do the hours (6.00am – 8.00am & 6.00pm – 8.00pm). The main change is that hand held hoses will require trigger nozzles. As the hot weather approaches, we want to keep the balance between saving water, residents keeping their gardens alive and maintaining the attractive appearance of our town.

The Tour de Oroc bike riders will be passing through town on Friday 11 October at lunch time. They raise money for Macquarie Homestays. Council will be providing them with lunch about 1.00pm and making a donation to the ride. Call in and say hello to them in Davidson Park.
