The school is supported by the Country Area Program (CAP) and by the Priority Schools Program (PSP) and National Partnership Low SES funding. The school has strong parental support through the Parents and Citizens Association and the Parent and School Partnership Initiative Committee. The school has a stable staff with most staff members having had over three years at the school. The executive structure of the school comprises one non teaching Principal and two full time teaching Assistant Principals.
The school promotes citizenship and taking responsibility for one's own actions, through its strong anti-bullying, discipline and student leadership programs. The focus of the school is encapsulated in the school motto," In Questa Sapientiae" or, "In Search of Knowledge". Nyngan Public School focuses on learning. The literacy and numeracy results of the school population achieving at or above minimum standards are strong. The focus of the school priorities is now on "raising the bar" so our results reflect State results in the higher achievement bands.

At St Joseph's we strive to create an atmosphere of co-operation between parents and school for the ultimate good of the child. As a parish school, we presuppose that by enrolling your child, you have some commitment to religious values. May God, through Mary MacKillop and St Joseph, bless our school's mission and shared responsibility of educating your child in a truly Catholic atmosphere of love and concern for each individual.
St Joseph's School, Nyngan was established in 1884 by three Sisters of St Joseph for the Catholic education of children in the area. The school started with 140 children. In 1911 the current Primary Building was built and has had extensions and refurbishing completed over the years with major work being carried out following two disasters - the flood in April, 1990 and the storm in January, 1998.
