Bogan Shire Council has the Biosecurity and Weeds Officer position available within our Environmental Services Department. The Biosecurity and Weeds Officer position contributes to the enhancement of our environment and protection from noxious weeds through inspection and control measures operated in accordance with legislation and plans.

The role of Biosecurity and Weeds Officer is to implement and enforce compliance with the Biodiversity Act 2015 through delivery of Council’s Weeds Management Program including:

  • Developing, implementing, coordinating and reviewing Council’s weed management program
  • Developing partnerships with the community and land managers
  • Undertaking community education about weed risk and best practice management
  • Carrying out inspections on Council owned and managed land
  • Inspecting private lands for priority weeds and seeking compliance with the Act from owners / occupiers

The Biosecurity and Weeds Officer position is a permanent fulltime position.

Salary Benefits

  • Remuneration is between $1078.00 - $1,393.58 per week depending on qualifications and experience
  • 9.5% superannuation
  • 38 hours per week
  • 9 day fortnight
