WASTE 2 ART 2025

Community members are encouraged to take part in the 2025 Waste 2 Art competition by creating two or three dimensional artworks from recycled materials (for example carboard, plastic, scrap metal, fabric) to win some great prizes and promote recycling.

WASTE 2 ART is a long running competition which showcases these works firstly at a local level and then at a regional level.

2025 is “The Year of Toys” which might provide some inspiration to our local creatives.

Entries will be displayed and judged at the Nyngan Show 25-26 May, 2025.

Winners will proceed to the Regional Showcase, September 2025 in Dubbo.

Entry forms can be collected from Council office, with all Waste 2 Art entries to be taken to the Walker Pavilion on Thursday 22 May, between 2.00pm – 4.00pm.

NYNGAN WASTE FACILITY – COVER YOUR LOAD

Dry conditions and a lack of grass growth have revealed an untidy amount of rubbish along the verges of Canonba Road between town and the Nyngan Waste Facility.

Council would like to remind residents when taking rubbish to the Facility so we can keep our town and its approaches looking tidy. Objects falling or blowing from vehicles can quickly become dangerous projectiles, causing serious accidents or road hazards to other drivers and pedestrians.

The unsightly litter that accumulates along all of our roadsides, due to objects blown or falling out of vehicles, can be made worse by other vehicles running over them. In New South Wales it is illegal to drive with an unsecured or overhanging load.

REPORT ILLEGAL DUMPING

Bogan Shire Council is working to prevent the illegal dumping of rubbish within our region.

Illegal dumping is the disposal of more than small amounts of waste or litter on land or in water without the correct approvals (an environment protection licence or planning approval). It is a serious problem in NSW and poses a serious threat to human health and the environment.

Offenders caught carrying out illegal dumping in the Bogan Shire will be penalised. If you are aware of illegal dumping please report it to Council or on website: ridonline.epa.nsw.gov.au which is the Environmental Protection Agency’s online reporting service. By doing this you will help the EPA and Bogan Shire Council to:

  • Protect human health and the environment
  • Detect and penalise dumpers
  • Find and clean up dumped waste
  • Identify dumping hot spots so we can develop strategies to prevent this behaviour in future in your local area.

To report dumping:

  • Upload a picture of the dumped waste
  • Provide the address of the incident using the GPS on your device or select the location on the provided map
  • Describe the type of dumped waste
