COUNCIL OPERATIONS OVER CHRISTMAS - NEW YEAR

The Council Administration offices, Nyngan Library, Bogan Shire Medical Centre and Bogan Shire Youth and Community Centre will be closed at the completion of business on Friday 22 December until Tuesday 2 January.

The Bogan Shire Early Learning Centre will close between Wednesday 20 December 2023 and Friday 12 January 2024.

The Nyngan Waste Facility will be open as usual on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 21 to 24 December 2023. Residents and business owners should be aware that due to the Christmas public holidays, Monday and Tuesday 25-26 December 2023, their kerbside collections of general waste and recycling will be picked up the next day.

YOUTH AND COMMUNITY CENTRE JANUARY HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES (12-24-year-olds)

Afternoon drop-in sessions will continue throughout January from 2pm-6pm on weekdays. Please check the Bogan Shire Council Facebook page for start times as it varies on some days.

James Tuitahi will be running regular bootcamp sessions on most Mondays and Tuesdays from 3pm-4pm; and basketball on Friday 5 and 19 January from 5pm-7pm.

Family Colour Run – Wednesday 10 January 10am-12pm (bring own light-coloured shirt). Water party and inflatable slide – Wednesday 17 January 12pm-4pm (bring a hat).

Outdoor Movie Night at the Nyngan Pool – Friday 12 January 7pm-9pm (free pool entry and food).

NYNGAN SWIMMING POOL

December and January opening hours: Monday to Friday, 6.30am-8am and 11am to 8pm.

Waterslide hours: weekdays after school – two hours per day; weekdays during school holidays – five hours per day; weekends and public holidays – five hours per day.

Entry: single daily admission: $3 per adult and $1 for children under two (if swimming). Season ticket: Single - $110; Family - $215.

RATES AND WATER

Overdue Water notices have been issued. Original notices were due for payment on 27 November. The second instalment notice for rates has been issued and they were due for payment on 30 November.

Please contact Council as soon as possible if you are having difficulties making your rates or water payments so that arrangements may be entered into.

If ratepayers do not make payments or contact Council for a plan they may be referred to a debt recovery agent and further fees and charges added to the account. All overdue payments also incur an interest charge of 8 per cent, calculated daily which also adds to the debt. Council may also install flow restrictors to water meters for ratepayers with overdue water accounts as a last resort.

Payments can be made in person by cash, cheque and eftpos at Council between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday. Payments may also be made by bpay, direct debit, Credit card, deductions from Centrelink. Please contact Council if you wish to discuss any of these options further.

NEXT COUNCIL MEETING

The next ordinary meeting of Council will be held on Thursday 22 February 2024 commencing at 5.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to sit in the visitor gallery at Council meetings (with the exception of during confidential time).
