BLUE GREEN ALGAE
WaterNSW has continued to issue a Red Alert status for Blue Green Algae in the Nyngan Weir pool and the Pumping Station Pool (upper weir).  This latest report refers to testing carried out on 23 January. Stock and domestic users upstream and downstream of the Nyngan Weir should apply a high level of caution when using water from the Bogan River; seek alternate water supplies if you believe that the water is contaminated with harmful algae.  Recent rainfall over the area since the testing may have helped to reduce the level.

BATS IN BACKYARDS
Council is supporting “Bats in Backyards” – a citizen science project from NSW Department of Planning and the Environment aimed at securing populations of threatened insect-eating bats in NSW.

Interested landholders in the Nyngan region can help out by surveying insect-eating bats on your property by recording bat calls using a bat detector device provided to participants.  Express your interest by joining the project at www.savingourspecies.online/bats.

REPORT ILLEGAL DUMPING IN BOGAN SHIRE

You can provide the address of the incident using the GPS on your device or select the location on the provided map.
